Pre-Press OperatorThe Pre-Press Operator is responsible for the coordination and production of pre-press services. Position provides electronic data for digital printing services and provides training and consults/advises others in printing and pre-press procedures and standards. The Pre-Press Operator prepares digital files, artwork, and materials so they are ready for the printing process. This is the stage before actual printing (pre-press), involving file checking, color management, layout/imposition, proofing and production using wide-format machines.Position Profile - Responsible for the production, planning, scheduling, and coordination of printed and/or digital books, catalogs, publications, t-shirts, signs, and other materials. May perform laser engraving services. Maintains press, bindery, and copier equipment.Level Summary - Provides professional expertise to the University community. Serves as a resource and guide to others in the department and/or university. Completes operational tasks essential for the daily functioning of the University. Additionally, contributes to larger projects or initiatives that align with department or University goals, often collaborating across teams.Supervisory Responsibilities - May assist in mentoring or training new employees.Fiscal Responsibilities - No budgetary responsibility. May be responsible for validating transactions.Problem Solving - Handles a variety of problems with some independence.Independence of Action - Some supervision; able to work independently on routine tasks.Communication and Collaboration - Collaborates with team members and shares knowledge.Physical Requirements - This role is primarily desk-based and involves extensive use of desktop computers. Occasionally, the job may require travel to attend meetings and programs.Minimum Qualifications - Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3-5 years of related professional experience, or equivalent education and experience.Preferred Qualifications - Experience using the Adobe Suite.

Experience operating wide-format printers. Layout/imposition and graphic design experience is preferred.Department - University Printing Resource CenterPay Rate - The target salary range is $43,888 to $51,377 commensurate with the selected candidate's education and experience while considering internal equity.
