Job Title
To assist the pre-kindergarten teacher(s) in maintaining appropriate activities and learning environment inside and outside of the classroom in order that students may learn effectively.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma and meet the District's formal academic assessment required by Every Student Succeeds Act
- Associates (or higher) degree OR 48 college credit hours
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
- Meet the rigorous standard of quality required by the district
Special Knowledge/Skills
- The ability to work effectively and harmoniously with students, parents and school personnel is essential.
- The abilities to willingly follow written and/or oral directions and to exercise good judgment are required.
Work Conditions:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Classroom materials
- Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
- Motion: Repetitive hand motions, reaching
- Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)
- Environment: May work in outside conditions
Minimum Experience:
Experience working with students and parents is preferred. This experience may be work in church-related school day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care or similar experiences
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
- Conducts learning exercises with small groups of children.
- Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
- Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children.
- Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
- Helps maintain individual records for each child.
- Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children.
- Assists teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
- Assists with the supervision of children during lunch and outside periods.
- Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays
