Job Title

Pay Range: $12.20hr - $17.20hr

Requirement/Must Have
  • Minimal data entry skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Understanding of specimen types related to test(s) ordered.
  • Knowledge of clinical department requirements regarding specimen types, quantity needed, handling, and delivery.
  • Understanding of compliance regulations related to test ordering.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change and pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Commitment to fulfilling internal and external customer requirements.
  • Willingness to actively contribute to a team-based working environment.
  • Ability and willingness to support department staffing needs on weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.

  • Proficiency in manual functions including sorting, racking, pickup and delivery of specimens, specimen storage, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a production environment.

  • Ability to maintain composure while working under pressure.
  • Good judgment in resolving problems.
  • Adherence to core values, safety, compliance, and work process policies.
  • Ability to work in a biohazard environment in compliance with safety requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Learn assigned job duties and develop an understanding of how Tech Ops and Specimen Processing functions impact technical departments and result quality.
  • Identify problems with specimen types or missing information regarding sorting, racking, centrifuging, delivery, and storage.
  • Resolve or forward information to support timely problem resolution.
  • Research test order information on translation tables, computer systems, and the directory of services to ensure compliance.
  • Meet quality and production standards within 6 months of completing training.
  • Complete all required written documentation legibly and within assigned time frames.
  • Report to work on time and follow attendance guidelines to support the department during coworker absences.
  • Learn additional functions within Tech Ops and Specimen Processing for career progression.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Nice to Have
  • Medical background including medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory.
  • Previous experience in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with mainframe computers.

Qualification And Education
