Powered Support Systems MechanicAs a POWERED SUPPORT SYSTEMS MECHANIC (TITLE 32), WG-5378-5/8/10, you will perform duties involving the maintenance and repair of power ground and other support equipment used in aircraft servicing and repairs. Major duties include:Perform maintenance, repair, and modification of powered ground support equipment including AC/DC generators, air compressors, heaters, deicers, and auxiliary power units.Perform overhaul, rebuild, repair, and replacement of major system components including power-plant, brake, fuel, steering, hydraulic, air, starting, ignition, and electrical systems.Apply knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems related to ground support and power production equipment.Operate powered and non-powered ground support equipment including towing devices, work stands, jacks, ramps, and tow-bars.Troubleshoot deficiencies and determine the extent of required repairs on flight-critical ground support equipment.Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel system malfunctions using test equipment and technical data.Troubleshoot internal combustion and turbine engines including fuel controls, carburetors, clutch linkage, brakes, and mechanical linkages.Identify required parts and corrective actions based on troubleshooting results.Read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and maintenance publications.Perform maintenance actions in accordance with prescribed technical data, safety procedures, and maintenance standards.Measure and work within close tolerances when repairing, adjusting, or overhauling equipment and components.Follow preventive maintenance schedules and maintenance control procedures to ensure equipment serviceability.Use common hand tools and a variety of test equipment to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs.Perform preventive maintenance actions including lubrication, oil changes, filter replacement, and fluid level checks.Repair and replace tires, hoses, belts, ignition components, and related consumable parts.Maintain equipment in a clean condition and prevent deterioration from dirt, oil, grease, and corrosion.Maintain maintenance records and equipment log books documenting inspections, servicing, and repairs.Observe equipment operation to detect malfunctions and performance deficiencies.
