Powered Support Systems MechanicAs a Powered Support Systems Mechanic, WG- , you will plan and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop, which is then completed by the incumbent and lower graded mechanic(s). Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements.

Devises and maintains all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance. Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision. Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner.

Physical effects: Requires moderate to strenuous physical exertion when standing, stooping, and bending. Routinely required to lift heavy objects weighting up to 50 pounds and occasionally, lifts items between 50 and 100 pounds with assistance. Working conditions: Works indoors and outdoors.

May work in inclement weather on icy, wet, hot, and slippery ramps, work stands, ladders, and in temperature and humidity extremes. Subject to the dangers of toxic fumes, shock, high noise level, possible cuts, abrasions and burns, extremely low temperature cryogenic liquids and extremely high air pressures while repairing adjusting, positioning or moving equipment.
