Power Transmission & Distribution Engineer/Project ManagerFarnsworth Group is seeking a Power Transmission & Distribution Engineer/Project Manager to join our growing consulting team at any of the locations listed below. You will be responsible for leading power industry projects from concept through completion, with a focus on electric transmission and distribution design.Posting Locations: Belleville, Lisle, or Chicago, IL; or St. Louis, MOWhat You'll Do:Build, maintain, and grow client relationships, support business development and proposal developmentServe as the primary client contact, ensuring communication, alignment, and high-quality deliveryLead and manage transmission, distribution and substation projects from planning through closeout, including route selection, siting, surveying, permitting, engineering, estimating, and construction coordinationProvide leadership, mentoring, and coordination across multi-disciplinary teams (electrical, civil, survey, environmental, structural)Prepare and/or oversee project schedules, budgets, forecasting, scope, risk management, change management, and staffingDevelop engineering drawings, specifications, and cost estimates and implement project execution plans, project controls, and QA/QC processesPerform transmission and distribution system design (overhead & underground) including distribution equipment, feeder replacement, cable replacement, and new feeder installationPrepare substation design packages including siting, physical equipment arrangements, and equipment designs such as buswork, transformers, breakers, isolators, protective relaying systems, and grounding systemsConduct line routing, load flow, short circuit, and coordination studies as well as voltage drop, sag-tension, wire selection, and pole loading calculationsProvide technical input during client meetings and presentations as well as internal design team meetingsWhat You'll Need:Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution, orBachelor's degree in engineering technology or construction management from an ABET accredited institution7+ years of T&D experience in consulting or utility environments3+ years managing power industry projectsWorking knowledge of industry design standards, including NESC, IEEE, NERC and relevant utility standardsProficiency in tools such as ETAP, SKM, CYME, PLS-CADD, or similarDesign experience and working knowledge of 69kV to 500kV systems preferredStrong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to present complex information to internal and external stakeholdersDemonstrated ability to manage project financials, forecasting, scope, schedules, contracts, and riskProven success developing client relationships and leading multi-disciplinary teams.Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or PMP Certification preferredJoin Farnsworth Group, a nationally recognized architectural, engineering, and surveying firm, where your career can thrive!
