Power Bi Support SpecialistNorthern Trust is executing on a strategic initiative to enable self-service business intelligence (BI) and analytics utilizing Microsoft’s Power BI Desktop. The Power BI production platform has been live for 2.5 years and has continued to onboard new use cases at steady rate since inception.Contractor’s Role:Consultants applying for this position must have strong knowledge of Power BI Desktop and any experience with the administration and support of the development and production BI environments is a plus. They will also be assisting partners with Power BI Desktop application development tasks and must also possess clear oral and written communication skills and demonstrate flexibility while working on multiple projects and initiatives at the same time.Experience Level: MidQualifications:2-3 years of overall industry experienceBachelor degree in Computer Science or a related discipline2-3 years of application development or report development experience1-2 years working with Microsoft Power BI DesktopExperience working with various database types (e.g.
SQL Server, Oracle, Access, etc…) and various data modeling activitiesSome experience with Power BI service tenant administration specifically working on the Admin console for Power BI and setting up data gateway sourcesTasks & Responsibilities:Handle day to day BAU types of activities including migrating reports, addressing issues, and answering questions from end users about the Power BI platform.Act as an application development consultant by working directly with partners requiring data ingestion, data modeling, or report development assistance.Serve as a “subject matter expert” with regards to Power Query, Power Pivot, and report development activities.Evaluate new releases of Power BI desktop to understand enhancements and communicate new features with our BI community.Evaluate and make recommendations on techniques, practices, or technologies that would enhance business needs. Also work to ensure continuous process improvements.Take ownership and be responsible for the framework around Nothern’s BI environments including stability and capacity management activities.
