Posting Summary
The group of Dr. Chong Sun in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to join interdisciplinary projects at the intersection of theoretical chemistry, machine learning and quantum information science. Candidates with experience in method development and high-performance computing are especially encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, computer science, or a related field is required. Minimum Education and Experience
Minimum Education
Ph.D. in chemistry, physics, computer science, or a related field, or Ph.D. expected by May 2027.
Experience
- Methodology development in wavefunction-based electronic structure methods, quantum Monte Carlo, tensor networks, or quantum embedding methods, etc.
- ML-augmented numerical method development.
- High-performance computing (HPC).
- Quantum algorithm design.
- Error correction or error mitigation.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong background in quantum chemistry, computational physics, machine learning or quantum information; Proficiency in scientific programming; Excellent communication and scientific writing skills.
