Overview

The National Laboratory of the Rockies Biosciences Center seeks a full‑time Postdoctoral Researcher in the Physical Biochemistry and Photosynthesis Group to conduct basic research on the electron transfer and biophysical mechanisms of flavin‑based electron‑bifurcating enzymes.

Responsibilities

• Apply spectroscopic techniques (UV/Vis steady state and transient absorption, electron paramagnetic resonance, fluorescence) to investigate protein redox cofactors.
• Use electrochemical methods (protein film voltammetry, spectroelectrochemistry) and biochemical assays to study enzyme mechanisms.
• Prepare manuscripts and reports on research progress.
• Present results at national meetings.
• Mentor junior researchers and assist the project PI with project planning.
• Collaborate with internal and external research groups.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemistry, or related discipline earned within the last three years.
• Hands‑on experience with expression and purification of recombinant proteins.
• Experience in biochemical or biophysical investigation of redox‑active enzymes.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; a history of relevant publications.
• Ability to work safely and independently in a laboratory setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate research in flavoenzymes, metalloenzymes, enzyme kinetics, protein–protein or protein–substrate interactions, transient absorption spectroscopy, electron paramagnetic resonance, or protein electrochemistry.
• Experience with oxygen‑sensitive redox‑active biocatalysts and interdisciplinary teamwork.
