Postdoctoral Fellow - Urology

Houston Methodist is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct basic research under the guidance of a Physician and/or Principal Investigator. This role involves performing research duties, which may include laboratory work or computer-based tasks, to support the department's research mission. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a leading health system and academic medical center.

Practice Info

• Work may be in a laboratory setting or consist of computer work.
• The health system consists of eight hospitals, a research institute, a comprehensive residency program, international patient services, freestanding comprehensive care clinics, emergency care and imaging centers, and outpatient facilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician and/or Principal Investigator (PI) in maintaining the functionality and operations of the PI's laboratory.
• Develop research methods and perform research activities.
• Document research results and write reports for presentation and/or publication.
• Follow all safety rules while on the job, report accidents promptly, and correct minor safety hazards.
• Communicate with peers and management regarding any identified workplace hazards.
• Assist with implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives, standards of practice, and protocols.
• Utilize resources effectively and efficiently, demonstrating responsible financial stewardship.
• Participate in pertinent research activities and evidenced-based practice projects.

Requirements

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) from an accredited medical school or Terminal degree in a related field (A letter from the academic institution certifying that all student work is complete will be considered for Postdoctoral Fellow 0 only).
• Postdoctoral Fellow 0: None
• Postdoctoral Fellow 1: One year of Postdoc experience
• Postdoctoral Fellow 2: Two years' Postdoc experience
• Postdoctoral Fellow 3: Three years' Postdoc experience
• Postdoctoral Fellow 4: Four years' Postdoc experience
• Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.
• Ability to effectively communicate with patients, physicians, family members, and co-workers.
• Demonstrated knowledge of biomedical research.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
