Description

The successful candidate will lead research activities in embedded AI, wearable and ubiquitous computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The role also involves supporting university teaching at Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD level in topics related to Wearable and Ubiquitous Computing.

Research activities include, for example, optimisation of machine learning for resource‑constrained devices, algorithms for context recognition, and modelling and simulation for synthetic machine learning. Projects are linked to applications in biomedicine, digital health, space, or automation. A new lab space with motion and surface capture facilities will be used for experimental work.

Qualifications

Key selection criteria include research and leadership qualities, especially in wearable and ubiquitous computing. A PhD in computer science, embedded systems, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or related disciplines is required. Academic achievement should be demonstrated through scientific publications, patent applications, external funding acquisition, and teaching experience. An independent, hands‑on approach and excellent communication skills are required. A keen interest in practical applications and translating research findings into real‑world solutions is expected. Excellent knowledge of German and English, or a commitment to learn German as a foreign language, is desirable.

Benefits

Remuneration is in accordance with pay scale E13. Working hours are full‑time, with negotiable reductions in working hours.
