Job Description
The lifeguard is responsible for protecting patrons from hazardous conditions by ensuring that safety and pool rules and regulations are enforced. The lifeguard supervises patrons for safety and crowd control, performs rescue work, and renders emergency first aid. The lifeguard manages respiratory and cardiac emergencies, including performing CPR and using emergency equipment. The lifeguard controls external bleeding, treats shock, and splints fractures and dislocations for transport. The lifeguard teaches swimming skills and water safety, prepares teaching materials, and ensures the safety of all patrons in classes. The lifeguard reports safety hazards, completes incident reports, maintains routine documents, and ensures proper disposal of medical waste. The lifeguard is responsible for the cleanliness of buildings and grounds, performs routine pool maintenance, and may operate water pumps and add chemical additives. The lifeguard checks I.D. cards, collects fees, administers swim tests, schedules pool use, and instructs patrons on pool etiquette. The lifeguard provides world-class customer service, reports workplace hazards, and adheres to safety regulations. The lifeguard performs duties that may require lifting and carrying objects, and may work in moderate discomforts and adverse weather conditions.
