Sleep Clinic Technician

Position Summary
Assist physicians in managing sleep clinics in alignment with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) standards and practice protocols. Prepare patients and equipment for sleep studies, perform polysomnographic testing, and oversee recordings to guarantee precise data collection and patient safety. Identify abnormal sleep patterns or cardiac events and implement appropriate interventions while following established clinical guidelines and procedures.
· Capable of executing all responsibilities of a sleep technician/technologist in compliance with AASM and practice standards.
· Review patient records, confirm study orders, and complete patient questionnaires.
· Conduct patient interviews to assess current medications, recent caffeine or alcohol intake, sleep habits, and any treatment needs during testing (e.g., insulin administration).
· Accountable for adhering to proper polysomnographic protocols including equipment preparation, calibration, monitoring of recordings, data analysis, and fitting airway pressure masks.
· Demonstrate proficiency in polysomnography, Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLTs), and oximetry.
· Identify sleep disorders as they arise and respond with suitable interventions to maintain patient safety (e.g., CPAP, Bilevel, ASV, oxygen therapy).
· Accurately measure patient vital signs and detect cardiac arrhythmias.
· Consistently follow all standard operating procedures related to patient studies and pre- and post-study requirements.
Patient and Equipment Safety
· Identify and appropriately respond to patients' medical issues and physiological events.
· Maintain the safety and well-being of all patients.
· When necessary, safely assist in lifting and moving patients without causing harm to the patient or oneself.
· Adhere to Universal Infection Control Procedures and standard precautions at all times.
