Policy Specialist, Power Markets - Spring, TXThis senior-level position works with representatives in legal, marketing, corporate development, and other internal teams, as well as agency officials, under limited supervision to evaluate policy and regulatory developments that directly impact company strategy across energy markets. Strong knowledge in power market regulation and FERC processes enables the role to connect policy outcomes into commercial value and strategic positioning.Job Duties & Responsibilities:Monitor and analyze federal and state regulatory developments affecting downstream energy marketsAdvise internal teams on policy and regulatory risk, opportunities, and strategic implicationsCollaborate cross-functionally with commercial, legal, and operational teams to ensure alignment on policy developments and to translate policy outcomes into actionable guidanceSupport the development and execution of advocacy strategies and policy positionsEngage on gas-electric coordination issues by monitoring and participating in relevant proceedings to assess implications for natural gas supply, infrastructure access, and system reliabilityAct as a liaison between upstream operational teams and power/utility-related stakeholders to ensure integrated solutions for regulatory, permitting and market-related issuesEngage with regulatory agencies such as FERC, NERC, state public utility commissions, and other related organizations to represent company interestsRepresent the company in industry associations, regulatory meetings, and public forumsMay involve some travel, mostly US domesticPerforms other duties as assignedJob Specific Skills:Demonstrated ability to identify and achieve strategic objectivesExcellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and policy issues for diverse audiencesAdvanced knowledge of trade & technical terminology while understanding oil & gas operations, drilling, geology and land functionsAbility to establish and maintain good relationships with various federal and state governmental agencies and staffDemonstrated experience interacting with federal and state regulatory agencies, particularly FERCAdvanced knowledge of laws, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, oil and gas law, permitting and compliance requirementsAbility to manage multiple competing deadlinesEducation:Minimum: Bachelor's degree - from accredited universityPreferred: Bachelor's degree - from accredited university - Environmental Science, Energy Policy, Economics, Engineering, Public Policy or related fieldExperience:Minimum: 8 years experience in energy policy, regulatory affairs, or a related field, with experience in downstream markets such as utilitiesExpand Energy takes necessary action to ensure that all applicants are treated without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, age, gender identity, national origin, genetic information, disability, pregnancy, military or veteran status or any other protected characteristic as established by law.
