Description of Work

The primary purpose of this position is to research, write, and disseminate child welfare policy information regarding child protective services. This position also drafts written responses to media requests and develops forms. This position will work as team member for implementation of any initiative or project that requires a policy change in any matters related to the assigned subject matter.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities / Management Preferences

Salary Range: $53,164 - $93,038 Recruitment Range: $53,164 - $73,101 Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred.

  • Documented child welfare experience and ability to demonstrate working knowledge of child welfare programs, concepts, practice, policies, laws, and rules related to child protective services; intake and assessments, in-home services;
  • Proven experience in ability to research, analyze and interpret Federal and State laws and formulate them into policies related to child welfare;
  • Documented experience in technical writing to complete formal written documents and develop forms for a range of audiences, that are accurate, detailed and grammatically correct;
  • Proven experience in implementing child welfare-related policies or procedures and monitoring those implemented policies and procedures for compliance to get the intended results;
  • Demonstrate excellent communications skills, both written and verbal to a wide range of professional stakeholders and public.

Minimum Education and Experience

Master's degree in a disciple specific to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and four years of experience in the area of assignment, including two years in a supervisory or consultative capacity OR Bachelor's degree in a discipline specific to the program from an appropriately accredited institution and six years of experience in the area of assignment, including two years in a supervisory or consultative capacity OR An equivalent combination of education and experience.
