Police Trainee

The City of Antioch is offering an opportunity to start your career in law enforcement as a Police Trainee. This position provides a comprehensive training program at a POST approved Police Academy for a period of approximately five months. Trainees will be paid an hourly wage while attending the academy, and will receive medical, vision, and dental benefits. Upon successful completion of the Police Academy, trainees may be appointed to the position of probationary Police Officer with an annual salary ranging from $115,608 to $140,532, plus additional benefits.

To qualify for this position, applicants must:

  • Graduate from an accredited high school or successfully complete the General Educational Development (G.E.D.) exam; AND
  • Be at least 20 years and 6 months old at the time of appointment.
  • Possess a valid California Class "C" driver's license.
  • Meet the medical standards recommended by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.).
  • Undergo a complete background investigation, which includes a polygraph, psychological examination, and fingerprint clearance.
  • Submit either a passing PELLETB T-Score or online passing NTN score.

The PELLETB is the police written test used by most agencies in California. It stands for "POST Entry Level Law Enforcement Test Battery" and is the entry-level Written Exam recommended by the CA POST Commission.
