South Kingstown Police Department has 58 sworn officers that serve in a variety of units within the Uniform, Detective, and Administrative Support divisions.
Typical Qualifications
US Citizen, 18 years of age or older, possess a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to speak, read and write the English language, passing certificate of the Fit2Serve physical and written examination, drug screen, psychological and medical examination and comprehensive background check.
Supplemental Information
Retention pay starts at 3 years of service and has incremental increases every year up to 28 years: 4.5% of base salary at 3 years, 5% of base salary at 5 years, 7.5% of base salary at 10 years, 8.75% of base salary at 15 years, 10% of base salary at 20 years, 11.25% of base salary at 25 years, 12% of base salary at 28+ years.
Leave Benefits: 13 paid vacation days, up to 25 vacation days or 300 hours after 15 years of service, 11 paid sick days or 134 hours per year, up to 15 days of Differential Pay for military days per year, 2 personal days.
