What We're Looking for The City of Beverly Hills Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Police Officer Trainee.
Police Officer Trainees are non-sworn civilian employees until they successfully graduate from the Police Academy and are sworn in as Police Officers.
Distinguishing Characteristics While distinctively uniformed as a non-sworn officer in training; develops minimum qualifications required for a career in law enforcement.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience and Training Experience: No experience is required; however, candidates with prior internship or experience in a government/municipal public safety department are highly desirable. Training specified in one of the tracks listed below: Track 1: At least 36 semester units (or 54 quarter units) from an accredited college or university at the time of application. Must provide a diploma, official or unofficial transcripts at time of application. Track 2: A minimum of four years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard) after an Honorable Discharge. (Must provide Form DD214 at time of application.) License and Certificate: Possession of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Other Requirements Must be a citizen of the United States of America, or a lawful permanent resident, at the time of application. Minimum 20.5 years of age at time of appointment. Must be able to meet physical standards. Must meet psychological and background standards that reflect the following: Must be found to be free from any physical, emotional, or mental condition, including bias against race or ethnicity, gender, nationality, religion, disability, or sexual orientation that might adversely affect the exercise of the powers of a peace officer. Must be of good moral character, as determined by a thorough background investigation.
