Plumbing Technician

Working with 6in steel pipe. This role focuses on installing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems and components across residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The Plumbing Technician reviews building plans, ensures compliance with relevant building codes and environmental requirements, and coordinates work with other trades and suppliers. The position also involves planning and scheduling work, preparing budgets and supply orders, and maintaining detailed daily reports to support safe, efficient, and code-compliant plumbing operations.

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and components in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
  • Review building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing systems and related materials.
  • Identify required tools, hand tools, and special equipment needed for each project.
  • Select appropriate types and sizes of pipe, including PVC and other piping materials, based on project requirements.
  • Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, fixtures, and related plumbing components.
  • Install supports and hangers for pipes, fixtures, and equipment to ensure proper alignment and stability.
  • Assemble and install valves, fittings, and associated components to complete plumbing systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain water treatment equipment, piping, and control systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain underground storm, sanitary, and water piping systems.
  • Install, repair, and maintain sinks, tubs, toilets, and other plumbing fixtures and appliances.
  • Install, repair, and maintain water heaters, conditioners, and related equipment.
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim in new construction and existing buildings.
  • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks and verify proper operation and performance.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures to prevent failures and extend service life.
  • Apply all relevant building codes, installation requirements, and legislation to plumbing installations, repairs, and maintenance.
  • Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
  • Ensure all plumbing work meets applicable building codes, regulations, and environmental protection requirements.
  • Follow manufacturer specifications and requirements for the installation and maintenance of systems and fixtures.
  • Prepare budgets for plumbing projects, including labor, materials, and equipment costs.
  • Prepare and submit orders for supplies, materials, and equipment needed for ongoing and upcoming work.
  • Keep accurate daily reports documenting work performed, materials used, and any issues encountered.
  • Schedule work in cooperation with other trades and suppliers to ensure efficient project completion.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support construction, maintenance, and plumbing operations.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on experience in construction and plumbing installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, building plans, and specifications.
  • Proficiency with piping systems, including PVC and other common plumbing materials.
  • Experience in water distribution and wastewater disposal systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
  • Knowledge of relevant building codes, legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures related to plumbing installation and maintenance.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with other trades on construction and maintenance projects.
  • Strong team-building skills to support collaborative work environments.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve plumbing issues efficiently.

Work Environment

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Glasgow, KY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $32.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
