Plumber

The City of Henderson announces an examination to create an eligibility list and to fill one (1) vacancy for the classification of Plumber in the Department of Public Works. The eligibility list may be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification for up to one (1) year. Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled tasks involved in the installation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of plumbing equipment, mechanical systems and related equipment, fixtures and piping in City buildings and facilities; and performs related duties as assigned. External candidates, probationary full-time, part-time, and temporary City of Henderson employees will start at the first step of the salary range, if selected.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent
  • Three (3) years of qualified journey level plumbing experience
  • Note: An equivalent combination of related education, experience, and training may be considered
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
  • Must possess a current and valid journeyman certificate/card at the time of appointment
  • Possession of an American Water Works Association (AWWA) Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certificate within six (6) months of appointment, and maintenance of such current certification as a condition of continued employment
  • Must pass a nationwide fingerprint-based record check, and a wants/warrants check
  • Must complete Security Awareness and National Crime Information Center (NCIC)/Nevada Criminal Justice Information System (NCJIS) certification within six months of hire/transfer and be recertified every year. Must maintain certifications in NCIC/NCJIS as a condition of continued employment
  • All required licenses and certificates, as mandated by state and federal laws, or as required herein, must be obtained and maintained at the incumbents' expense
