Job TitleMaintains, installs, and repairs plumbing equipment. Provides for the reliable and safe operation of the hospital plumbing distribution system.EducationMinimum: A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)Preferred: An Associate's degree (two-year program or two to three years of college) or equivalent formal training.Credentials/LicensureMinimum: A current plumber's licensePreferred: A current plumber's licenseRelated ExperienceMinimum: One year plumbing experiencePreferred: Five or more years experience, hospital experience preferredOther Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMinimum:Working knowledge of and ability to use basic hand tools and the test equipment specific to the field.Ability to follow written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.Essential FunctionsAssists in planning, installation, and maintenance of hospital water and drain systemsPerforms preventive maintenance on equipment according to established procedures and guidelines and document results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.Performs corrective maintenance including diagnosing problems using electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or other sciences and document results of activities performed to comply with all regulatory accreditation and licensing standards.Interacts with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems.Completes Daily Time Sheet in AIMS to track work orders and preventative maintenance, and miscellaneous work done.Determines need for replacement parts and supplies and order as appropriate.Coordinates and monitors support efforts with outside service organizations when necessary to make sure the work they perform is appropriate and documented.Maintains age specific safety precautions including: No small, sharp objects, or tools that may injure patients or visitors will be left out.
