Zoo Facilities Maintenance TechnicianThis position performs a variety of semi-skilled duties related to the maintenance, repair and monitoring of the Zoo facilities, equipment, systems, grounds and other general requirements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Perform preventive maintenance on plumbing and all mechanical equipment, systems and controlsPerform work orders assigned on plumbing, mechanical equipment systems and controls, construction, carpentry, welding or any other variety of dutiesTroubleshoot and repair plumbing and all mechanical equipment systems and controls as necessary or directedMonitor equipment and systems for proper and efficient operationUnderstanding of water quality standardsOperate all necessary hand tools and equipment to perform required dutiesPerform custodial services required to maintain assigned buildings, facilities, equipment or grounds in a clean, orderly, safe and secure conditionDetermine necessary parts, equipment, tools and material for tasks and secure best source, price and qualityTrack and log all time and materials usedAssist other trades as necessaryQualifications:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.Two years experience as a facilities maintenance technician or able to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed under dutiesFamiliar with maintenance/construction equipment and safety practicesAbility to operate various maintenance/construction equipment and toolsKnowledge of Fort Worth city codes as neededValid driver license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain Zoo standards of insurabilityEducation and/or Experience:High school diploma or equivalent preferred, 2 years experience in maintenance/construction fieldPhysical Demands:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
