PLC Maintenance Technician (Food Manufacturing)

We are looking for a hands on Maintenance Mechanic with experience programming & troubleshooting PLC / Automation systems to join our team that thrives in a fast-paced environment that values craftsmanship and continuous improvement.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Install, configure, and commission automation systems including PLCs, HMIs, sensors, and actuators
  • Perform PLC and HMI troubleshooting and make program adjustments as needed (ladder logic, FactoryTalk, Wonderware, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and repair production equipment across mechanical, electrical, and automation systems
  • Maintain and repair conveyors, industrial ovens, and production lines
  • Execute preventive maintenance (PMs) to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment failures quickly in a fast-paced production environment
  • Support automation improvements and assist with system upgrades or modifications
  • Work hands-on with mechanical systems including pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve performance and efficiency
  • Use CMMS to document maintenance activities and track work orders
  • Ensure compliance with safety, food safety, and quality standards
  • Work in a production environment that may include heat, physical activity, and equipment access at heights

What You Will Need For This Job

  • Experience as an Automation Technician, Maintenance Mechanic, or similar role in manufacturing
  • Strong hands-on experience with both mechanical systems and automation equipment
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC systems (must be more than basic exposure)
  • Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting (ladder logic required)
  • Familiarity with HMI systems such as FactoryTalk, Wonderware, or similar platforms
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus preferred)
  • Strong mechanical skills including conveyors, production equipment, pneumatics, and hydraulics
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance (PM programs)
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on role that includes both controls and mechanical work
  • Willingness to troubleshoot equipment on the floor, not just focus on programming
  • Experience in food manufacturing or high-speed production environments preferred
  • Technical training or equivalent hands-on experience in automation or maintenance
