Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to support manufacturing controls, assembly, and machining operations for vehicle and powertrain programs. This role will be responsible for PLC programming, controls architecture implementation, troubleshooting automation systems, and supporting new production launches.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead controls engineering activities from design through program launch
* Implement and maintain standard automation hardware and software architectures
* Support assembly and machining manufacturing systems
* Troubleshoot PLC, CNC, robot, vision, and automation equipment issues
* Coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams
* Support production downtime events and continuous improvement initiatives
* Travel to manufacturing facilities as needed during launch activities
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field preferred
* 5+ years of controls or automation engineering experience
* Experience with Siemens and/or Rockwell PLC programming
* Ability to read and interpret electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics
* Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
* Knowledge of industrial networking and communication protocols
* Experience in manufacturing, assembly, or machining environments
Preferred Qualifications
* Siemens SCL programming experience
* Experience with CNC, robotics, RFID, and machine vision systems
* Knowledge of UL, ISO, IEC, and machine safety standards
* Experience with FMEA, DMAIC, DOE, 8D, and continuous improvement methodologies
* Ability to support AI-driven process improvement initiatives
