Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking a dependable Plate Fitter to join a growing fabrication team in Claremore. This position is responsible for assembling and fitting metal plates and structural components according to blueprints, drawings, and engineering specifications. The Plate Fitter plays a key role in preparing components for welding and final assembly while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and enjoys hands-on fabrication work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Required Experience & Skills
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Ability to accurately read a tape measure
• Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and shop drawings
• Basic knowledge of metal fabrication and fitting practices
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
• Previous fabrication or manufacturing experience preferred
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and work instructions
• Measure, mark, and position metal plates and structural components for assembly
• Fit and align components to ensure proper preparation for welding and final assembly
• Use hand tools, grinders, measuring equipment, and fabrication tools safely and accurately
• Inspect materials and completed fit-ups to verify quality and dimensional accuracy
• Assist with moving raw materials and finished products throughout the facility
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Follow all company safety procedures and fabrication standards
• Perform additional fabrication and production duties as assigned by supervisors
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience as a plate fitter or structural fitter
• Experience working in heavy fabrication or industrial manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with welding preparation and fabrication processes
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
Physical Requirements
• Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive physical activity throughout the shift
• Ability to safely use fabrication tools while wearing required PPE
• Comfortable working in a physically demanding manufacturing environment around heavy steel and industrial equipment
