Plastics Engineer

HR Mango is seeking a hands-on Plastics Engineer to support and advance tooling and injection molding operations for a growing manufacturing client.

This role is ideal for an entrepreneurial engineer who wants to build, innovate, and improve processes—not simply maintain existing operations. The successful candidate will help develop new manufacturing capabilities and applications, including opportunities involving automation, robotics, and AI.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead tooling and plastic injection molding projects from concept through production.
• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot injection molding processes.
• Improve cycle times, product quality, material performance, and manufacturing efficiency.
• Support mold trials, validation, root-cause analysis, and process documentation.
• Evaluate tooling, materials, equipment, and emerging manufacturing technologies.
• Collaborate with operations, quality, engineering, and leadership teams.
• Identify new product applications, processes, and market opportunities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Plastics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on plastic injection molding and tooling experience.
• Knowledge of molding processes, tooling, materials, and manufacturing equipment.
• Strong troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and process-improvement skills.
• Entrepreneurial, builder-focused mindset with the ability to turn ideas into action.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and project leadership skills.
• Must be local and able to work on-site.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with mold design, mold trials, validation, or scientific molding.
• Familiarity with automation, robotics, sensors, or machine integration.
• Experience leading manufacturing or continuous-improvement projects.
• Interest in AI and emerging manufacturing technologies.
