Plasma Table OperatorThe Plasma Table Operator is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC plasma cutting equipment to produce precision parts used in fabricated assemblies. This role works closely with shop leadership, welders, fitters, and engineering to ensure parts are cut accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with Controlled Automation plasma tables, strong shop fundamentals, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and operate CNC plasma cutting tables to cut plate and sheet metal to specificationRead and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, nesting layouts, and work instructionsLoad raw materials and ensure proper alignment, leveling, and calibrationPerform basic programming or adjustments to nesting and cutting paths as neededMonitor cutting operations to ensure accuracy, quality, and efficiencyInspect completed parts to verify dimensions, tolerances, and edge qualityOperate overhead crane equipment to safely move materials and finished partsPerform routine maintenance on plasma equipment, including torch and consumablesMaintain a clean, organized work area following 5S and safety standardsCoordinate with welders, fitters, and supervisors to meet production schedulesSupport continuous improvement efforts to reduce waste and improve throughputRequirementsMinimum of 3 years' experience operating CNC plasma tables or similar cutting equipmentExperience with Controlled Automation plasma tables (strongly preferred)Proficiency operating overhead cranes safely and efficientlyAbility to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawingsStrong attention to detail and commitment to qualityGood organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasksTeam-oriented mindset with a willingness to support broader shop operationsBasic computer skills for machine interface and file handlingSolid understanding of shop safety practices and PPE requirementsPreferredExperience with CNC nesting software (e.g., ProNest, SigmaNEST, or similar)Background in structural steel, plate fabrication, or industrial manufacturingForklift experienceExposure to modular fabrication or water/wastewater systemsPhysical and Work EnvironmentManufacturing/fabrication shop environment with moderate noise and heavy equipmentAbility to lift up to 40–50 lbs and stand for extended periodsExposure to heat, sparks, and metal materialsWhy Join Hi-Line?Contribution to critical water infrastructure projectsCollaborative, team-first manufacturing environmentGrowth opportunities as production expandsCompetitive compensation and benefits packageBenefitsCompetitive wagesComprehensive benefits package (medical, dental, vision, STD, LTD)Paid time off (PTO) to recharge and explore401(k) retirement plan to secure your futurePlus, an opportunity to grow your skills and advance your career!IWS is an equal opportunity employer.
