- Pay Rate: $30.00-$50.00 / Hour (USD)

The Plant Operator is responsible for managing the daily operation of water/wastewater treatment plant and management of a hazardous waste superfund facility per client and regulatory standards and requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the groundwater pumping and treatment system in compliance with Federal and State regulatory orders and permits.
- On call 24/7 for system shut-downs or alarms with immediate response for repairs required to restart the facility.
- Monitor, adjust and record data from various types of instrumentation and equipment to ensure proper biological and chemical treatment, sludge precipitation and removal, pressure and flow rates of the wastewater system; and monitor influent and effluent flow.
- Maintain daily log for local, state and federal records; record reading of gauges and results of tests at specified intervals; maintain record of daily operations and any irregularities; maintain equipment maintenance records.
- Collect treatment plant and groundwater samples; test water quality; make chemical analysis such as solids determination, chlorine residual and pH determination; perform sludge volume tests; measure dissolved oxygen levels; perform well capacity test; turbidity and telemetry monitoring.
- Ensure facility, discharge sampling, and regulatory inspections are in compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulations.
- Observe and operate a variety of equipment in the treatment of wastewater; operate filters, pumps, mixers, filters compressors, blowers and feeders; adjust and change tanks; backwash filters.
- Monitor the SCADA systems for the treatment plant and monitor site security.
- Respond to system breakdowns and after-hours emergencies.
- Committed to working safely and in compliance with company and site safety policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Comply with all policies and standards.
- Site safety manager ensuring all guests, contractors, suppliers follow the company's safety protocols and expectations including safety stewardship and proper documentation and reporting.
- Manage subcontractors performing maintenance and repairs.
- Interact with adjacent facilities for emergency action planning.
- Knowledgeable in plant safety precautions and occupational hazards associated with the treatment operations.
- Knowledgeable in state and federal operating permits and regulations.
- Knowledgeable in understanding basic math pertaining to the treatment process.
- Experience in collecting water samples for testing.
- Experience in troubleshooting of instrumentation, field equipment, and plant operational issues.
- Experience with metals precipitation processes and handling beneficial.
- Bachelor's Degree in science or related field and 8 years of related experience in water/wastewater treatment facilities operations and maintenance required; OR
- Associate Degree in science or related field and 9 years of related experience in water/wastewater treatment facilities operations and maintenance required; OR
- High School Diploma/GED and 10 years of related experience in water/wastewater treatment facilities operations and maintenance required.
- 40-hour OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) trained with current refresher training.
- Holds or has made recent progress to obtaining a Certified Grade D Wastewater Operator in the State of Missouri.
- Minimum 8 years of related experience in water/wastewater treatment facilities operations and maintenance (with Bachelor's Degree); OR minimum 9 years (with Associate Degree); OR minimum 10 years (with High School Diploma/GED).
