Plant EngineerAir Liquide Large Industries provides industrial gas and energy solutions that are vital to their own industrial production. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S. supplying mainly oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen and syngas in large quantities from multiple production sources to major customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining and steel industries.The main goal for this role is to partner with operational teams by suggesting opportunities for process improvement as well as refurbishment projects in production plants, while respecting safety, reliability and efficiency of equipment.

In this role, you will help ensure that projects are properly executed to meet production objectives, while promoting ALC's quality and safety objectives.Safety & Compliance LeadershipProvide visible HSE leadership to site technicians and actively support and promote the Life Critical Safety system (LCS)Support and maintain all aspects of Health, Safety, Environmental and Regulatory ComplianceOperates facility in compliance with all Air Liquide policiesWork to achieve our goal of "Zero Accidents" by taking a proactive, guiding role in safetyKeep plant hazard analysis current and display thorough knowledge of possible hazards and associated safeguards. Compliance with EIS requirementsEnsure all incidents are reported and investigated and corrective actions are completedComplete assigned action items from auditsApprove critical work permits (hot work, confined space, etc.)Key contributor to site Safe Work Permit (SWP) and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) ProgramsOperational & Engineering SupportPerform process troubleshooting. Identify and recommend process changes and plant projects to improve plant HSE, reliability and efficiencySupport the operations with engineering support ranging including MOC creation, small project management, and action item completion.Provide regulatory training and maintain required regulatory documentation (ISO documentation, RMP, MOC, etc)Guide and maintain Key Operating Documents.

Maintain updated red-lines at all times. Display detailed understanding of content and significance of each documentEnsure GT's are understood and followed by the plant staffEnsure operating procedures are followed and updated as neededMaintenance & Project ManagementPartner with the Reliability Center to execute predictive and preventive maintenance to safeguard plant continuity and eliminate unplanned maintenancePartner with the Reliability Team to execute planned maintenance and unexpected events.Coordinates, schedules, and delivers certain maintenance activities for the site.Foster and maintain high housekeeping standardsAssist in developing plant budget needsDevelop cost and economic justification for capital projectsDevelop and execute capital project scope, cost, and schedule as assigned within time and budget requirementsIdentify and implement opportunities to reduce costs within delegated authorizationUtilize national purchasing agreements and frame agreementsProfessional Development & AdministrativeAssist with training new techniciansProvide thoughtful, constructive input to management decisions and actively support those decisions.Promote and ensure adherence to administrative and operational policies and procedures.Complete Personal Development System goals as defined in annual reviewOn call nights, weekends and holidays as requiredOccasional travel – typically 1 to 4 trips per yearRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering requiredMust be able to wear personal safety equipment, including hardhat, safety glasses, safety shoes, and flame resistant clothingPreferred Qualifications2+ years of experience in an industrial production facility in the role of plant engineer or other similar plant operations role; utilities, air gas, chemical, or refinery production experience preferredAdvanced project management and interpersonal skills to create cross-functional alignment.Exceptional communication skills, specifically in developing action plans to ensure accountability and follow-through.Strong project management abilities and the ability to manage plant personnelExperience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting engineering issues within a plant operations environmentTrainable on Distributed Process Control (DCS) operation/troubleshootingAble to deliver/explain training material to operating personnelFamiliarity with google Office products, Smartsolve, Maximo®, Oracle Cost Reporting, Oracle Purchasing is a plusAble to maintain a plant filing system and control of engineering documentsAbility to read/red-line key operating documentsDisplay mechanical and electrical aptitude for equipment operation/troubleshootingGeneral understanding of accounting principles; ability to learn plant operating budgetOrganized, effective at time management; ability to work with minimal supervisionStrong verbal and written communication skills, team leadership skillsAbility to interact effectively with all levels in an organizationAbility to work extended hours/shift work as business needs dictateOn call nights, weekends and holidays as required; occasional travelAt Air Liquide, we are committed to build a diverse and inclusive workplace that embraces the diversity of our employees, our customers, patients, community stakeholders and cultures across the world.
