Overview
The Plant Controller is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of manufacturing facilities, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. The Plant Controller is a key business partner to the Site Directors and Operations leadership, ensuring financial integrity, operational efficiency, and compliance with company policies.
Responsibilities
- Manage and own the cost accounting system:
- Oversee standard cost systems and ensure accurate product costing
- Develop and maintain standardized processes related to manufacturing and cost accounting.
- Analyze manufacturing variances, including material, labor and overhead; make adjustments as required.
- Coordinate physical inventories.
- Support the overall accounting system and process improvement
- Manage fixed assets and construction in progress, including additions, dispositions and depreciation schedules.
- Support the monthly, quarterly and annual close efforts.
- Instill proper internal controls and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline financial reporting processes, implement best practices, and identify efficiencies.
- Support overall financial management
- Analyze plant operating costs in detail and partners with plant operation leaders to develop actions to increase profitability and enhance long-term return on investment.
- Prepare annual budgets, quarterly forecasts and weekly outlooks for the facility.
- Support and oversee inventory management.
- Support ad hoc projects and request as required.
- Must maintain operational compliance with US and international regulatory agencies and guidelines (i.e. FDA, EU, HC, TGA, PIC/S, ISO, USP, NRC, cGMP, etc.).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance; A Master Degree is a plus.
- Minimum 8 relevant years in financial role, business development, or accounting role
- CPA or CMA highly desired.
- Strong understanding of GAAP with IFRS knowledge a plus.
- Demonstrated capacity to handle diverse number of projects simultaneously
- Strong ability to collaborate with a multi-cultural and cross-functional team
- Independent, inquisitive and a self-starter
- Strong MS Office skills (i.e. Outlook, Teams, and Excel)
- Understanding of business intelligence tool
Working Conditions
- This is a full time position that is onsite, working in typical office conditions with extensive time using computer equipment.
- May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
- Close attention to detail required.
- Willingness to work in a team-based environment.
- Willingness to travel 20% and work in manufacturing facilities.
- The position deals with many deadlines. Due to the short turnaround time of deadlines and limited time, overtime is sometimes required.
- Must be able to work outside of regular work hours, including weekend, and holiday work as business needs require.
- May be required to sit or stand for long periods of 8+ hours a day while performing duties.
