Overview
Pediatric ICU Nurse
The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Uses therapeutic communication in daily practice and maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Plans individualized patient care with an interdisciplinary approach and participates in performance improvement activities. Provides care and coordinates participation that supports the hospital’s mission and vision.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients’ conditions while maintaining accurate and detailed records
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients’ condition
- Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients’ responses and conditions
- Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans
- Monitor all aspects of patient care in a collaborative multidisciplinary setting
- Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on patient care, disease processes and discharge instructions
- When acting in the charge nurse role, manage day-to-day activities to ensure quality patient care, make staff assignments based on patient need and acuity, and serve as a clinical resource for staff
Qualifications
- RN licensure by the Tennessee Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state
- Current BLS
- PALS required within 6 months
- 1 year of RN experience required
- Pediatric ICU, Adult ICU or Pediatric experience highly preferred
