Remote Contract science
Role Overview

Apply deep physics expertise to produce rigorous, publication-quality solutions that train and evaluate next-generation AI systems. This remote contractor role is focused on solving advanced physics problems, creating mathematically precise derivations in LaTeX, and verifying results with SymPy, Python, and Jupyter. Domain knowledge and clear technical writing are the primary qualifications; prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Solve advanced physics problems from your specialization, producing rigorous derivations and analyses.
  • Write technically precise, clearly argued solutions in LaTeX, explicitly listing assumptions, approximations, and final results.
  • Use SymPy, Python, and Jupyter notebooks for symbolic or numerical verification and to present reproducible computational workflows where relevant.
  • Identify and explain subtleties in problem statements, including special cases, boundary conditions, and dimensional consistency checks.
  • Flag ambiguous or under-specified material and propose well-reasoned interpretations or clarifying questions.
  • Incorporate reviewer feedback by iterating on submitted solutions and integrating corrections cleanly.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation and reproducibility consistent with professional research practice.
Qualifications
  • PhD in physics, or advanced-stage PhD candidacy with active research experience in a relevant subfield.
  • Research expertise in one or more of: High Energy Physics, Mathematical Physics, Biophysics, Statistical Physics, Condensed Matter (including moiré systems, magnetism, PXP/Rydberg), AMO/Quantum Optics, Gravitation, Cosmology, Astrophysics, Quantum Information, or Optical Properties of Materials.
  • 2-5 representative publications from the past ~5 years, with accessible arXiv links or DOI records.
  • Proficiency with LaTeX for presenting mathematics, and experience using SymPy, Python, and Jupyter for computational verification and demonstration.
  • Demonstrated excellence in written technical communication, able to produce clear, precise, and well-argued scientific outputs.
  • Strong analytical skills, able to isolate core physical principles and provide nuanced solutions to complex problems.
  • Required skills summary: physics mastery, written technical communication, deep technical problem solving, and mathematical and computational fluency.
Work Terms
  • Role type: Contractor.
  • Location: Remote.
  • Engagement length: approximately an 8-10 week period.
  • Time commitment: approximately 10 hours per week, with consistent availability during the engagement.
Compensation

Hourly pay range: $80 - $140 per hour.

Eligibility

Candidates must be able to engage as independent contractors for this project. No additional work-authorization requirements or sponsorship details are provided in the listing.
