JOB DESCRIPTION:
WPIC is a Whole Person Care model that works collaboratively in small teams to engage and stabilize high risk and high vulnerability adult homeless individuals and to help prevent harmful effects of homelessness, establish care for chronic conditions and transition patients to effective healthcare.

The Senior Physician Specialist is a member of a multidisciplinary team that includes health workers, community peer workers, Registered Nurses, Primary Care Physicians, family nurse practitioner and psychiatrist. Street Health works very closely with San Francisco Homeless Outreach Team including social workers, outreach workers, case managers, and other staff.
Services are provided in office settings (open access clinic and urgent care) and outreach settings such as streets and parks, homeless shelters, harm reduction sites, and shelter in place settings.
LOCATION: 555 Stevenson St, San Francisco based shelters and various outdoor locations.
SCHEDULE/SHIFT: Generally, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, hours may vary, and evening and weekend shifts may be required
MEDICAL SPECIALTY: Family or Internal Medicine
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Desire to work with high risk/high vulnerability people experiencing homelessness in an inner city setting, who have multiple chronic problems, which may include medical, mental health, substance use and cognitive impairment
- Experience in Addiction Medicine particularly prescribing buprenorphine for patients with opioid use disorder.
- Experience managing patients with HIV disease, hepatitis C, and Sexually transmitted infections
- High degree of flexibility with experience working in unconventional healthcare settings
- Expertise in Addiction Medicine;
- Training on use of buprenorphine and possession of waiver to prescribe
- Addiction Medicine board eligible or board certified
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Current valid license to practice medicine issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California*
- Successful completion** of a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association in the appropriate medical specialty area for the assigned facility or division (i.e., Board Eligible)
*Applicants possessing a valid license to practice medicine issued from another state within the United States of America may apply, but if selected, the candidate will NOT be appointed/hired until they obtain a valid license to practice medicine issued by the Medical Board of California or the Osteopathic Medical Board of California.
**Applicants enrolled in a residency program may apply, but if selected, the candidate will NOT be appointed/hired until they demonstrate successful completion of a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or American Osteopathic Association in the appropriate medical specialty area for the assigned facility.
