Position Highlights

Responsibilities

  • Provide medical patient care by interviewing, examining, and treating clinical patients to meet their medical needs
  • Educate patients on wellness, prevention, and early detection by providing materials and resources to patients and families
  • Determine which referrals are required based on examination and patient needs
  • Determine level of urgency of follow‑up, referral/consultation appointments
  • Exercise final medical judgment in all issues of health care
  • Prescribe medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients
  • Order studies, tests, and ancillary services
  • Document all services in the patient medical record
  • Review on a regular basis long‑term cases that require ongoing medical attention
  • Consult with the Medical Director and other staff on patient care, assessment, and education issues
  • Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic
  • Oversee mid‑level medical staff as assigned and nursing clinical staff
  • Assist in the resolution of complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient information according to federal guidelines and regulations
  • Demonstrate commitment to providing outstanding customer service to all patients in a manner reflective of mission, values, and customer service standards

Qualifications

  • BC/BE in Pediatric Medicine
  • Current and unrestricted state medical license as MD/DO and DEA licensure
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; effective verbal and written communication; proper telephone etiquette
  • Commitment to providing compassionate and quality patient‑centered care
  • Must maintain all requirements for medical staff privileges
