Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited medical school with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.) degree.
  • Completion of an accredited residency program in Internal Medicine and fellowship training in Rheumatology.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology (preferred).
  • Current medical license in the state of Arkansas.
  • Experience as a Rheumatologist (preferred).
  • CPR certification required upon employment or within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Must reside in the service area.

In this role, you will diagnose, treat, and manage patients with autoimmune, inflammatory, and musculoskeletal disorders. The ideal candidate will be committed to improving patient outcomes through comprehensive evaluation, evidence‑based treatment, and collaborative care while providing high‑quality rheumatologic services to patients across the lifespan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, injections, infusions, and other specialized rheumatologic care to treat or manage disease and improve patient outcomes.
  • Order, perform, and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and other diagnostic tests to evaluate and monitor rheumatologic conditions.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary, including management of biologic and immunosuppressive therapies.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient information, including medical history, examination results, and treatment plans.
  • Explain medical procedures, test results, and treatments to patients and their families.
  • Advise patients on disease management, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and preventive care strategies.
  • Refer patients to specialists or other healthcare practitioners when needed.
  • Coordinate and direct activities of nurses, students, assistants, specialists, therapists, and other medical staff.
  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including primary care providers, nurses, social workers, rehabilitation therapists, pharmacists, and psychologists, to ensure comprehensive patient care.
