Physician – Radiation Oncology, Radiation Oncologist - CNS, GI, GU, or Thoracic (Open Rank/Track Faculty)

Position within The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.

Position Overview

The Physician provides licensed medical care, including diagnosis, treatment, case management, and clinical research. The Physician manages complex and sometimes unpredictable situations, demonstrating technical, clinical and surgical, cognitive, and interpersonal skills required to serve patients. The Physician practices within the established medical center and physicians’ standards of practice, adhering to key result areas of the medical center.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Direct and provide patient care services in inpatient and outpatient settings, including ambulatory clinics.
• Interview patients and review their medical history.
• Perform physical examinations to assess medical or surgical needs.
• Perform radiation therapy procedures and order special procedures, diagnostic testing, and other ancillary services.
• Respond to consultation requests, determine, prescribe and implement treatment plans or medications.
• Document all services and instructions in the medical record.
• Educate patients and promote wellness, prevention and early detection.
• Direct and participate in quality assessment and improvement activities.
• Serve as preceptor and provide bedside training to residents, fellows, medical students, nursing staff and allied professionals.
• Ensure continuing medical education requirements are met.
• Participate in department, college, medical center and university committees and other service activities.

Requirements

• MD or DO, board certified or board eligible in radiation oncology.
• Completion of an accredited residency and fellowship training program.
• Current or interim permit to practice medicine from the State of Ohio Medical Board.
• Board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Radiation Oncology.
• Active certification from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
• Sub‑specialty board certification or eligibility from the American Board of Radiation Oncology preferred.
