Summary
The North Florida/ South Georgia VA Healthcare System's Primary Care Service is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician for our Lake City VA Medical Center. Qualifications
To qualify for this position you must meet the basic requirements as well as any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Currently employed physician(s) in VA who met the requirements for appointment under the previous qualification standard at the time of their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements of the occupation.
Basic Requirements
- United States Citizenship: Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy
- Education: Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine
- License: Current full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
- Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification
- Preferred Experience: Board certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine is preferred
- Proficiency in spoken and written English
- Physical Requirements: Must pass a pre‑employment physical examination as required by VA Handbook 5019 (moderate lifting up to 44 lbs, carrying objects up to 15 lbs, frequent reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, hands, and legs, use of cranes and motor vehicles, walking & standing up to 8 hours, bending and climbing, and able to hear whisper)
Duties
- Complete vesting appointments for new patients when access levels dictate it necessary
- Utilize technology such as telehealth video conferencing and telephone visits when necessary
- Perform the full range of duties to include but not limited to: Physical exams, ordering laboratory, radiological, and diagnostic tests
- Practice in accordance with professional standards of care, core values and a commitment of excellence
- Utilize electronic medical records in accordance with North Florida/South Georgia VHS policy and other regulatory bodies
- Participate in staff meetings, educational activities, administrative and other duties assigned
- Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday 0800‑1630
