Overview

These positions are located in the Primary Care Service at the Eastern Colorado Health Care System and provide support to veterans and their significant others within the ECHCS catchment area. A Primary Care Provider functions as a team provider in a shared workflow with a multidisciplinary Patient‑Aligned Care Team (PACT) – a medical‑home model consisting of an MD (or PA/NP), RN, LPN, and Medical Support Assistant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, treat, and monitor patients presenting with internal medicine concerns.
  • Perform histories and physicals.
  • Initiate and adjust therapeutic regimens and order medications/supplies per VA policy and formulary.
  • Provide follow‑up care and triage patients with non‑medicine complaints or injuries to appropriate specialists.
  • Comfortable with chronic disease management, geriatric patients, pain management, addiction treatment, mental health treatment, and women’s health care.
  • Communicate with and collaborate with other disciplines to facilitate treatment planning.
  • Participate in team performance‑improvement activities and provide health education coaching.
  • Ensure same‑day access for face‑to‑face and telephone care visits during regular clinic hours.

Qualifications

  • United States citizenship.
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent osteopathic degree from an VA‑approved school.
  • Full & unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in any U.S. state, territory, or district.
  • Completed residency in an accredited core specialty training program or one year of post‑medical‑school training followed by two years of independent practice.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.
  • Physical requirements: pre‑employment physical, ability to lift 15‑44 pounds, push, reach, use fingers, walk/stand for 3‑5 hours, rapid mental and muscular coordination; vision and hearing standards as specified.

Location: Aurora, Lamar, Pueblo, Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Colorado
Work Schedule: Monday‑Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
