Physician - Optometrist

Job Title: Optometrist
Location: Houlton, Maine
Schedule: 7:00AM - 5:00PM x 4
Term: 26-week assignment with the potential for extension.
Pay Rate : $111 - $120/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Optometrist for a temporary assignment in Houlton, Maine. These positions are 26-week locum tenens contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a Optometrist:

• Provide quality eye care and emergency optometric treatment in an FQHC/community clinic setting
• Examine eyes and visual systems, diagnose problems or impairments, and prescribe corrective lenses
• Prescribe therapeutic drugs to treat specific eye conditions as needed
• See an average of 16 patients per day across two clinic campuses
• Work a 4-day schedule (Tuesday- Friday), rotating between two campuses: South Patten on Tuesdays and Houlton on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays
• Utilize Athena EMR for all charting and documentation; must be capable of independent charting without reliance on support staff
• Collaborate with support staff including 1 Optometric Technician and 1 Optician
• Maintain Board Certification by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry
• Hold a valid state optometry license (license in hand preferred; licensing candidates may be considered)
• Maintain a clean criminal and DHHS background
• Adhere to all clinic policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
• Work comfortably in a high-volume, diverse patient population environment serving all walks of life, consistent with an FQHC/community clinic setting
