Sutter East Bay Medical Group (SEBMG) is seeking a BE/BC Medical Oncologist with expertise in malignant hematology and cellular therapy to join their growing and collaborative team in Berkeley, CA. This role offers a unique opportunity to expand an established community-based cellular therapy program into a regional center of excellence within a highly integrated, multidisciplinary care model. The physician will be instrumental in program development and innovation, contributing to a state-of-the-art cancer center.

Practice Info

  • Join a collaborative group of 7 hematology/oncology physicians.
  • Practice embedded within the Sutter–Stanford Joint Venture Cancer Center (SMSHCC).
  • SMSHCC is a state-of-the-art, fully integrated cancer center.
  • SMSHCC brings together multidisciplinary oncology clinics, advanced infusion services, radiation oncology, an ambulatory surgery center (ASC), and comprehensive supportive services in one location.
  • The broader Sutter oncology network includes over 200 oncology specialists, 20 integrated cancer centers, more than 17,000 new cancer cases annually, and over 150 active clinical trials.
  • SEBMG is a physician-led, multi-specialty group of more than 400 clinicians serving the San Francisco East Bay.

Responsibilities

  • Expand an established community-based cellular therapy program into a regional center of excellence.
  • Maintain a malignant hematology–dominant role with a focus on expanding cellular therapy programs, including CAR-T and related therapies.
  • Manage complex hematologic malignancies.
  • Potentially maintain a focused solid tumor subspecialty practice (GI, Breast, GU, Thoracic) based on training and interest.
  • Partner across the cancer service line and joint venture to align care pathways, expand access, and advance multidisciplinary care delivery.
  • Actively participate in tumor boards and multidisciplinary case conferences, including collaboration with Stanford colleagues.
  • Contribute to clinical pathways, quality initiatives, and program growth across the system.
  • Participate in cross-system initiatives that drive consistency, improve outcomes, and support innovation in oncology care delivery.

Compensation

  • Base compensation for full time (1.0 FTE) clinicians: $532,000 - $623,000 /Yr.

Requirements

  • MD or DO (or equivalent).
  • BE/BC in Medical Oncology.
  • Eligible for California medical licensure.
  • Fellowship training in BMT/cellular therapy or experience in CAR-T or transplant programs preferred.
  • Expertise in malignant hematology and cellular therapy.
  • Interest in program development, innovation, and multidisciplinary care.
  • Mid-career candidates with program-building experience are preferred.
  • Strong early-career candidates are encouraged to apply.
