Position Overview

The Chief of the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition, and Weight Management is a senior academic physician leader responsible for the strategic, clinical, research, and educational direction of a large, multidisciplinary section within the Department of Medicine. Reporting to the Chair of Medicine/Physician‑in‑Chief, the Section Chief will guide a high‑volume clinical enterprise serving a diverse and underserved patient population while advancing academic excellence in endocrine, diabetes, weight management, and nutrition care. The role includes oversight of nationally recognized specialty programs, inpatient and outpatient services, and a broad portfolio of interdisciplinary initiatives, partnering closely with departmental, hospital, and academic leaders to align section priorities with institutional goals of quality, access, innovation, and health equity.

Responsibilities

  • Strategically lead the section’s clinical, research, and educational missions.
  • Expand the research portfolio across basic, translational, clinical, and health equity studies.
  • Advance educational excellence in fellowship programs and training pathways.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a diverse, high‑performing faculty and workforce.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture and ensure operational and financial sustainability.
  • Represent the section in institutional governance and enhance its regional and national reputation.

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree.
  • Experience in a leadership role desired.
  • Board‑eligible or Board‑certified in Endocrinology preferred.

Compensation

Salary range: $275,000 to $375,000 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and qualifications. The final salary will be set based on a variety of factors, including departmental budgets, qualifications, and internal pay comparison.
