Physician Leader: Section Chief, Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition, and Weight Management
Position Overview
Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), Department of Medicine is seeking a senior academic physician leader to serve as the Section Chief for the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition, and Weight Management. The Section Chief will provide strategic, clinical, research, and educational leadership for a large interdisciplinary section. Responsibilities include guiding a high-volume clinical enterprise, overseeing nationally recognized specialty programs, managing inpatient and outpatient services, and advancing research and education across fellowship programs and training pathways.
Responsibilities
- Guide clinical enterprise and ensure high-quality, equitable care for a diverse patient population.
- Develop and expand research portfolio spanning basic, translational, clinical, and health‑equity studies.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a diverse faculty and workforce.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Ensure operational and financial sustainability and represent the section in institutional governance.
- Strategically partner with departmental, hospital, and academic leaders to align priorities with institutional goals around quality, access, innovation, and health equity.
Job Requirements
- Medical Degree.
- Experience in an academic leadership role (desired).
- Preference for board‑eligible or board‑certified Endocrinology.
Compensation
Competitive salary ranging from $275,000 to $375,000, commensurate with experience and academic training.
