Overview
Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), Department of Medicine, is seeking a Physician Leader to serve as the Section Chief for the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition, and Weight Management.
The Chief of the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition, and Weight Management is a senior academic physician leader responsible for the strategic, clinical, research, and educational direction of a large, multidisciplinary section within the Department of Medicine. Reporting to the Chair of Medicine/Physician-in-Chief, the Section Chief will guide a high-volume clinical enterprise serving a diverse and underserved patient population while advancing academic excellence in endocrine, diabetes, weight management and nutrition care.
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership, clinical oversight, and research direction for the section.
- Coordinate inpatient and outpatient endocrine, diabetes, nutrition, and weight management services.
- Expand a robust research portfolio spanning basic, translational, clinical, and health equity research.
- Advance educational excellence across fellowship programs and training pathways.
- Recruit, mentor, and develop a diverse, high‑performing faculty and workforce.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, ensuring operational and financial sustainability.
- Represent the section in institutional governance and enhance its regional and national reputation.
Qualifications
- Medical Degree.
- Board eligible or certified in Endocrinology preferred.
- Experience in a leadership role desired.
Compensation
The position offers a competitive salary commensurate with academic training and practice experience: $275,000-$375,000. Faculty members and their dependents qualify for greatly reduced tuition at Boston University.
