Physician Leader: Section Chief, Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition, and Weight Management
Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM), Department of Medicine, is seeking a Physician Leader to serve as the Section Chief for the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition, and Weight Management to join our faculty.
Position Overview
The Chief of the Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes, Nutrition, and Weight Management is a senior academic physician leader responsible for the strategic, clinical, research, and educational direction of a large, multidisciplinary section within the Department of Medicine. Reporting to the Chair of Medicine/Physician-in-Chief, the Section Chief will guide a high-volume clinical enterprise serving a diverse and underserved patient population while advancing academic excellence in endocrine, diabetes, weight management and nutrition care. This role includes oversight of nationally recognized specialty programs, inpatient and outpatient services, and a broad portfolio of interdisciplinary initiatives, while partnering closely with departmental, hospital, and academic leaders to align section priorities with institutional goals around quality, access, innovation, and health equity.
The Section Chief will drive growth and impact across the section’s academic missions, including expanding a robust research portfolio spanning basic, translational, clinical, and health equity research, and advancing educational excellence across fellowship programs and training pathways. The Chief will recruit, mentor, and develop a diverse and high-performing faculty and workforce, foster a collaborative and inclusive culture, and ensure operational and financial sustainability while representing the section in institutional governance and enhancing its regional and national reputation.
