Position Overview

Title: Physician, Internal Medicine

Location: BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital – John Street, Kalamazoo, MI.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose illnesses, prescribe, and administer treatment for patients with disease or illness.
• Examine patients, obtain medical histories, and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests.
• Provide counseling on preventive healthcare, hygiene, and diet.
• Interview, examine, and treat clinical patients to meet their medical needs.
• Determine referrals and urgency of follow‑up appointments.
• Prescribe medications and order studies, tests, and ancillary services.
• Document all services in the patient medical record.
• Review long‑term cases requiring ongoing medical attention.
• Consult with Medical Director and other professionals as needed.
• Participate in process improvement, management, continuing education, and patient care programs.
• Oversee mid‑level medical staff and nursing clinical staff.
• Assist in resolving complaints, requests, and inquiries from patients.

Qualifications

• Board certified or eligible in Internal Medicine.
• Current, unrestricted state medical license in Michigan (MD/DO).
• DEA licensure and DPS Certificate of Registration.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to compassionate, quality patient‑centered care.
• Knowledge of professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
• Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.

Schedule

Full‑time, 40 hours per week; Monday–Friday, 8a.m.–5p.m.; minimal on‑call duties.
