The West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine seeks a full‑time Faculty Hospitalist for positions as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor. The successful candidate will practice primarily in Morgantown, WV and Fairmont, WV, with possible assignments to additional sites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Travel to these additional sites is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in the areas of Internal Medicine and Hospitalist Medicine.
  • Attend primarily admissions for night coverage and perform cross‑coverage duties.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows on a one‑on‑one basis and as part of inpatient consult teams covering departmental consultations.
  • Participate in inpatient consults and specialty service lines, including cardiovascular, oncology, end‑stage renal disease, long‑term antibiotic infusion, geriatric fracture service, complicated infectious disease, and post‑acute care.
  • Serve on a 26‑week annual clinical schedule with a standard 40‑hour work week.

Qualifications

  • MD, DO, or foreign equivalent degree and eligibility for a West Virginia medical license.
  • Completion of an Internal Medicine residency program.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
