Physician Hospitalist - Ruby Memorial

Job Description

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine, Section of Hospital Medicine seeks a Hospitalist for a full‑time faculty position (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will practice primarily in Morgantown, WV and Fairmont, WV, with potential assignments at additional worksites in West Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. Travel to fulfill duties at additional sites is expected.

Responsibilities

• Practice internal medicine / hospitalist medicine, providing excellent patient care.
• Actively involve in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
• Serve on inpatient hospitalist service with an expectation of 26 weeks annually of clinical duties; night coverage primarily admissions with cross‑cover responsibilities.
• Engage in teaching opportunities of residents, medical students, and advanced practice providers in one‑on‑one and rounding teams.
• Participate in collaboration for subspecialty fellowship training and specialty service lines, managing a wide variety of patients such as cardiovascular, oncology, end‑stage renal disease, long‑term antibiotic infusion, geriatric fracture service, complicated infectious disease, and post‑acute care patients.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and eligibility for state medical license.
• Completed an internal medicine residency program.
• Board certified or eligible in internal medicine.
• All qualifications met by the time of appointment.

Shift & Hours

Scheduled weekly hours: 40 hours.
