Responsibilities
- Manage admissions, daily rounding services, consultative services, and discharges of hospitalized patients.
- Provide exemplary care including medical evaluation, treatment, diagnostics, referrals for subspecialty consultations, and discharge planning.
- Incorporate evidence‑based practices in clinical decision‑making and deliver high‑quality care as judged by medical peers.
- Participate in multidisciplinary care of the patient.
- Facilitate communication and interactions between patients, families, peers, ancillary staff, and consultants.
- Supervise physician extenders, including physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of medical records, orders, and documentation to maintain compliance with medical staff, local/state/federal, licensure and accreditation requirements.
- Participate in hospital quality initiatives and process improvement.
- Efficiently use hospital and healthcare resources or generate length of stays and hospital charges that are, on average, below that of non-hospitalist medical peers.
- Participate in educational conferences and meetings.
- Perform duties in accordance with established routine procedures as set forth by the State of Maryland, BPQA, AMA, HCFA, and AAHS policies.
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice in the State of Maryland.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or a comparable adult medical specialty.
- Board certification in Internal Medicine.
- Maryland Medical License.
- DEA registration.
- Continuing medical education credits as required by Maryland State Law.
- Compliance with medical staff membership requirements at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Physical Demands
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Job rated for Light Work.
Education
Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or equivalent required.
Pay Range
$19—$23 USD.
