Position Overview

West Virginia University Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Neurology in the WVU School of Medicine are seeking a Headache Neurologist qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The candidate will practice in Morgantown, WV, and will be a key member of the WVU Headache Center , the only comprehensive headache program in West Virginia.

The WVU Headache Center pioneers new approaches to headache treatment and participates in multi‑center clinical trials. Physicians collaborate closely with specialists in neurosurgery, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, psychiatry, pain medicine, and radiology to treat headache disorders through medications, procedural interventions, behavioral and nutritional changes, and other approaches. Specialists have access to advanced technology for diagnosis and treatment planning to help patients manage acute headaches such as migraine.

The WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute (RNI) is a comprehensive multidisciplinary patient care, education, and research institute with over 300,000 visits annually. The RNI team uses the latest technologies in partnership with academic, government, and industry partners to advance neuroscience, brain health, and therapeutics.

The Department of Neurology provides interdisciplinary care for epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders, brain injuries, headache disorders, multiple sclerosis, cancer, sleep medicine, neuromuscular disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions. WVU is a Joint Commission approved Comprehensive Stroke Center and Level IV Epilepsy Center.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and eligibility for West Virginia medical licensure.
  • Completion of a neurology residency program and a headache medicine fellowship.
  • Board certification in headache neurology.
  • All qualifications met by the time of appointment.
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
  • Exempt position in the United States.
