Deputy Service ChiefThe Deputy Service Chief may function as the Section Chief for all Diagnostic Radiology imaging modalities. Incumbent is expected to remain privileged and practicing in their specialty field and has full supervisory authority over direct report staff members who provide clinical and administrative support to Imaging Service. The incumbent oversees the daily operation of the diagnostic radiology section.Administrative Duties may include, but are not limited to:organizing staff meetingsHR Management: recruitmentupdating Functional Statements & Position Descriptionsphysician salary and pay panel recommendationsStaff Management: performance appraisalsrewards and recognitionpromotions, disciplinary actions & grievances,training requirementsTime/Leave Management: Tour of Duty assignment and documentationleave, time card certification approvals, etc.Supervisory Duties may include, but are not limited to:managing service-level quality improvement activitiesdeveloping performance standardsevaluating work performancecounseling and instructing staff on both work and administrative mattersresolving minor complaints from employees, and collaborating with Labor Relations to resolve grievances and more serious mattersinterviewing candidates and recommending appointments, promotions, and reassignmentsimproving production and increase unit's quality of work, etc.Clinical Duties may include, but are not limited to:providing direct patient care and education of othersinvestigating, evaluating, and improving patient caremanaging clinically-related activities of the diagnostic radiology sectionmanaging service-level quality improvement activities that monitor critical aspects of carerecommending to the medical staff the criteria for clinical privileges that are relevant to the care providedcoordinating integration of interdepartmental and intradepartmental servicesmaintaining quality control programs, etc.Recruitment/Relocation Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): May be approved for highly-qualified Candidate Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Telework: Available on an Ad-hoc (as needed) basis Remote: This is not a remote position Work Schedule: TBD (Typically M-F, CST) VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
